Most cable and satellite providers already offer a fully functional SD or HD PVR for roughly the same price, without an additional monthly fee. This Tivo model isn't even HD!
Plus you are paying Tivo and they then sell the personal data they collect on your viewing habits to whomever will buy it.
In 1999, this might have been news ...

TiVo still rocks for the 'no or skip commercials' feature, ease of use; HD TiVo should follow along.

What a waste why would somone pay 12.95 for this service when you are paying for a reciever/digital box from Bell Rogers or Starchoice. I love my BEV 9200 HD PVR even if I can't skip commercials while recording it is cheaper than a 6100 and a TiVO PVR.

Not available in Quebec. Must be a lack of French manuals.

....or maybe like many business folks, they aren't interested in translating documentation for a marginal marketplace.

TiVo has managed to capture only about four per cent of the Canadian PVR market so far. Without a 'deal' with source providers (Rogers/Bell) HD will be beyond their reach (there is no cable cards here in Canada) which means subscribers can only use HD recorders from their respective providers. A high-definition TiVo in the United States costs $299 US with an annual service plan starting at $129 US. High-definition video recorders from Canadian providers sell for around $600.
TiVo also announced a deal with RIM on Thursday that will allow its video recorders to be programmed using a BlackBerry.
