Connection question

Hello,

I'm trying to buy a TV for the holidays and I have a question about connections. The TV has 1 Component & 1 HDMI Connector.

The friend I'm buying it for lives in an Apt bldg that has a view of the entrance via the TV. He also has a DVD player that may be upgraded to HD-DVD in the future.

So my question is, would this TV have enough inputs to control a DVD, Cable box and the coax cable for the view of the front door?

Thanks!

The coax from the front door is probably on channel 3 or 4 and in NTSC format. If the set does not have NTSC tuner he's gonna have a problem.

As for the rest, use component for Cable box to TV,
Use composite, or preferably S-video for DVD to TV until he upgrades to either upscaling or HD DVD, then switch to HDMI for the DVD player.

Thanks for the info!

Here are the connection specs:

Tuner type: NTSC, ATSC, QAM

Connection options

HDMI inputs: 1, Supports 480i/480p/720p/1080i.

Component inputs: 1, Supports 480i/480p/720p/1080i.

PC inputs: 1

Also, if he switches to a HD cable box, can he still use component cables to conenct the cable box to the TV?

Thanks again & Happy Thanksgiving! :)
