Greetings:

I have seen HDMI cables around $6 for 10ft at monoprice.com, 19 conductors, 28awg, triple shielding, gold plated, v1.2a spec. After reading this post http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=41752&highlight=hdmi+cable+v1.3
and based on my current and future equipments should I or should I not buy v1.3 cables?

I google and find a couple of v1.3 cables, http://cablesondemand.com/product/AV...HDMI1330MM.htm,
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1155065411028
Whick one will you pick and is there a sure way to check if the cable is truly v1.3?

My current equipements and future equipments:
Denon AVR4806 (not upgrade to HDMI v1.3 yet)
Panasonic TH-50PX77U (soon Aquos LC-57D92U)
Pioneer DV-600-AV
HD-DVD to be Toshiba HD-XA1 or Blu-Ray Samsung BD-P1200 or both.

Thank you for your time and help.

Selling the cable as 1.3 is just marketing hype. It is the equipment that needs to be HDMI 1.3 compatible. A HDMI cable will pass 1, 1.2, and 1.3 signals as there is no difference in the connector just the information sent through it, which BTW for the 1.3 standard is HD audio. IF you do, in fact, need some new HDMI cables go to www.monoprice.com. They have quality cables at great prices.

If you want to know about HDMI v1.3, check out the HDMI.ORG website here: http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx#hdmi_1.3

All of your questions regarding HDMI are best gleaned from this site rather than from the opinions of the ill informed or from the sites of profit motivated individuals.

Basically, given your present and future equipment, and considering the short lengths which you intend to use, you will be just fine to purchase the monoprice cable.

I agree with the above 2 posts. Seeing as how there is hardly any HDMI 1.3 hardware out there now at this time it probably isn't worth it. However, that is not to say that it won't be needed in the future. billinprinceto provided a good link for the actual difference between 1.3 and the other versions. One draw is the higher bandwidth that 1.3 can handle, but as of right now 1.3's features aren't really necessary. If you still end up going for 1.3 I think TendonUSA is getting them this month.

SHARPEST??? Does that mean the connectors have razor like edges that cut your pinkies when you plug them in?
