I hope Ive come to the right place...Im interested in getting an
LCD HD 1080P... to replace my 720 samsung slimfit...Ive been very happy with Samsung as my last three televisions were samsung. I looking to buy a 46inch, something that has at least 2 HDMI ports and a good contrast ratio...although from what im reading on here contrast ratio doesnt mean anything? I am buying an xbox360 w/ hdmi, is there any recomendations?

my 2nd question is...brand seems to be really big..Ive always been told Sony and Samsung are the top of the food chain. What about Sharp, Ive always been told the quality of product isnt as good...any truth in that or should i just ignore people and let the specs speak for themselves. I need some help in this area (as you can probably tell)

In my opinion for LCD (if money is mnot in option) the first choice is Sony and then Samsung, for Plasma however Elite, Pioneer and Sharp in that order are my picks..

Right now you can get kick butt deals on the Sony XBR3 and the Elites (on Harvey's).

If you are set on LCD's either choice of Sony or Samsung are great, you'll be happy with either or.

Actually Toshiba Regza, Sharp Aquos and Samsung are currently the best bet for LCD TV's.

Im actually really surprised that Sharp is a brand to even consider, when it comes to their other electronics they fall far from the mark...

You may want to consider some of the 120hz sets hitting the streets as well. They should be excellent for gaming

How much better can it possibly get with the current generations! :confused:This sounds better than the current offerings. "JVC’s original CMD technology was applied to a 720p LCD panel and detected only horizontal motion. In its new full HD incarnation, JVC’s Clear Motion Drive detects image data from more than 8,000 surrounding dots in a frame to create a pixel and calculate movement from the current frame to the next. This process is performed on all two million pixels (1920 x 1080) in a frame to interpolate for movement in all directions." http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=588&pageID=1

AND THE WINNER IS . . . . . .

You'll be happy with (in alphabetical order) Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba, or Vizio.

There is a 99.9% chance that you will be equally happy with LG, Olevia, or Westinghouse.

There is a 99.8% chance that you will be equally happy with any other brand you may find if it meet your technical specifications and suites your aesthetics.

Well, I feel better knowing that there's logic behind it. ;)
