LG 42LB5D - scrambled picture

I have a problem with my LG. When I turn on the TV and Direct TV box the pictire comes accross scrambled. I am sending the signal from the box to the TV via HDMI. I have swapped the HDMI ports on the back of the TV but get same results. If I turn the TV & BOX off/on it eventually works but it takes several times and is annoying.
I do not have another HDMI cable to try yet, should I stick with HDMI or try another type of connection?

Any ideas? :what:

If all else is is OK - say DVD and OTA antenna (if you have that) then I would think something is amiss with the Dish box - possible a setting within or connection.
I have seen a few anomalies on my 42" LG PDP, but they have been rectified by a unplug for 15 minutes or so - then fire it back up.
Which LG do you have?

I have the same equipment and it works properly so it isn't a compatibility problem. I would try using something other than HDMI to see if that solves the problem. It if does, then you can consider a new HDMI cable. If it doesn't, then it is most likely a problem with the DTV box. There is no setup issue I can think of with the DTV box. It should send to all the outputs simultaneously. You've already tried all 3 HDMI inputs on the TV so it's likely cable or DTV box.
