Verizon has introduced its cutting-edge new high bandwidth solution directed at large businesses and government outfits.
Called the Verizon Integrated Optical Service, the new product converges multiple technologies into one network, the company claims. The platform will be able to maintain a selection of time-division multiplexing, storage, video and mainframe applications.
Nancy Gofus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Business, said: "Verizon is a leader bringing next-generation optical services to light. "With this new service, we've brought together our company's depth and experience with optical technologies, a vast fiber infrastructure and expert engineering resources."
The new service takes fiber optic technology to the "next level" added Ms. Gofus. Businesses in New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Baltimore, Tampa, Dallas and Los Angeles will be the first to be able to take advantage of the new service. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the cell phone giant Vodafone is considering selling its stake in Verizon.
