recently upgraded to dish HD

here is my problem.

I can't seem to get dolby digital to workfrom the 622->(optical out->optical in)to my stereo.
My stereo recognizes the signal(i see "DD" light up) but i only get audio out of the Sub woofer.

I have the 622->hdmi->tv.
622(dd/pcm rfmode)->optical-> receiver
On the upconvert dvd i get DD(via coaxial) works fine.
on the sacd/dvda i get DD(via coaxial) works fine also.

thought i would ask you guys before i spend hours on the phone w tech support.

Not sure if it is a problem with the optical out of the 622 or the optical in of my receiver.

i am going to my local electronics store and pick up a optical->coaxial converter and connect to the coaxial inputs of the receiver.

here is my set up:
tv sony kdf 50E
up convert dvd: sony dvp-ns75h
receiver:pioneer vsx d514
sacd/dvd audio:pioneer dv-578a
Dish:vip 622

thank in advance for any help
Arnold

About a year ago I had a similar problem with my 622 and a Pioneer Elite Receiver. After spending several hours (and getting nowhere) with DN support, I concluded that there is a sync problem between the 622 optical connection and certain AV receivers. I also found an online forum that indicated this was true. I ended up selling the receiver on ebay and purchasing a Yamaha (which is compatible). Good luck!

thanks for the reply.

I hope that is not the problem.

good excuse to buy new stuff though
now how do i convince the wife that I need to "upgrade" the receiver

I will try the converter and see if that works first.

thanks again
