Run My Own Coax?

I'm ready to make the jump to D**h from TW Cable after many months of thought. I would like to do my own coax install though as running my own ahead of time gives me much more peace of mind than someone I don't know stringing coax through my house.

My set up will be 1 HDDVR, 1 Standard and 1 Standard With DVR, no outside antenna. So...if I read the other posts correctly I will need to run copper core dual RG6 rated to 2450. From the dish entry point into my house will I need to string 2 or 3 separate lines to the room with the HDDVR? 1 separate line to the room with just a standard receiver and 2 or 3 to the room with the standard with DVR? Will I need to run a separate line from the room with the HDDVR to the room with the standard with DVR?

Also, will all of the lines need to exit the house and be at the dish or does only 1 line actually come into the house to meet the 3,4 or 5 lines to the rooms? Thank you for your help.

There will be one coax to each receiver from the dish.

The only reason for two coaxes from outside to a receiver would be for OTA reception. If you have an outdoor TV antenna, and you split the signal for multiple TV's you might also need a pre-amp at the antenna to have enough signal at the TV for stable reception. This all depends on the distance to the TV towers.

If the dual tuner receivers are supporting other TV's there will be coax from each DRV to the remote TV which may or may not go outside, mine is totally internal (attic) for remote TV's.

With Dish Pro Plus technology, the 622 HDDVR and I believe the 625 SDDVR use band stacking to include 2 bands within one cable, seperated at the 622/625 by a seperator.

You'll probably get a Dish 1000.2 which has a built in DPP34 switch supporting 4 satellite locations and three receivers. This assumes you are in the 129 satellite footprint.

Let us know how it turns out.

I just switched from cable to Dish & have been pretty pleased.

I myself ran all the coax that needed to be ran, while the contractor mounted the Dish & programmed the receivers.
