New Dish customer with questions

Hello all,
New here and just had Dish installed yesterday. Replaced Directv that wanted me to pay $299 to get an HD receiver even after being a customer for 10 years.

Dish gave me 4 room setup for free (1 ea - VIP 622 and 1 ea DVR 625). VIP622 is hooked up single to a 42" Plasma Tv with surround sound system. I also signed up for HD channels.

Installer was very nice and seemed to know what he was doing. He installed only 1 ea 1000 dish on my existing mount on the side of my house. I asked him about the problems with getting all 3 sats on a 1000 and he said no problem.

Everything is up and working. HD is working great.

I check my signal strengths on the 3 sats (110,119,129). On 110 and 119 I get all above 75. On 129 though I average betwwen 49-65. Is this acceptable for 129? They all show green.

Also, what sat carries the HD programming?

Thank you,
Jim Erickson

Seems like all numbers should be higher, especially 129. HD would be one 110 and 129.

As long as the bar is green and the tone is strong you are good to go.

That signal strength on 129 will give you macro blocking and drop outs when the satellite wobbles.

110 and 119 should be in the 90's.

Sounds like the installer was in a hurry.

The dish needs to be peaked for all sats, then adjusted to improve 129 to at least low 70's.
