What should I get?

What equipment should I get or demand from Dish Net for HD programing (no premium channels).

I'm already getting HD OTA.

Have 1 HDTV in living room, 1 SDTV in master bedroom(plan to upgrade in future to HDTV), 1 SDTV in second bedroom.

I need DVR service since I will not be using my TIVO once Dish Net enters picture.

Also interested in what type of dish to ask for as to avoid any future visits from installers.

Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Only HD dvr is the 622, it is dual tuner and can run one HD and one sd set. You can get a second HD non dvr receiver for the other room.

You can actually hook up an EDTV to the 2nd 622 tuner...and basically see independent HD output on a 2nd tv with all the DVR bells and whistles. I have a small Sharp EDTV in my kitchen connected to my 2nd tuner. Its not true HD, but far superior PQ to regular SD and I have widescreen too. Its the only reason I can think of when you would ever want to buy an EDTV. :)

I would ask for a ViP622 dual tuner DVR and a ViP222 dual tuner non-DVR. Both of these receivers have 1 HD output and 1 SD output. Connect to a phone line and you will have the ability to control up to 4 TV's (only 2 will get HD) and only be charged for 1 extra tuner.

The reason I say you should get 2 HD tuners now is that you will not be able to upgrade for another year after this. Do it now and you will be all set.

Also, you might consider holding off until Aug. 15. A new promotion starts then that will give you free HD for 6 months. Also, 7 new channels are launching on that date and you will get their HD counterpart for free as long as their SD channel is a part of your package.

Notice the press release on on new HD channels I just put up in another thread.
