Cable companies are crazy.They refuse to issue cable cards and where I live they moved the locals to higher band so your tv can't pick-up hd locals thru them.Cable is a joke.

IMO you will see over the next few years the FCC requiring both Dish and Direct to also convert over to cable card boxes. Some sort of leveling the playing field with cable companies. From what I've read so far the sat boxes usually work fine and hardly ever get returned. Hopefully that will mean the cost of conversion will not be so great and if they are given enough time both sat companies can add it to the next gen boxes. Of course this is just my opinion but why force cable companies to convert but not sat companies?
