I see people talking about a "2nd dish" to get HD programming. Excuse my ignorance here, but if I do go with Dish HD will I have to have 2 separate dishes outside my home?

2 dishes for Dish HD?trainerman99 07-01-2007, 05:18 AM I see people talking about a "2nd dish" to get HD programming. Excuse my ignorance here, but if I do go with Dish HD will I have to have 2 separate dishes outside my home? 64met 07-01-2007, 05:42 AM I had DNW for 6-7 years and switched to Fios about 16 months ago. When I was a customer with DNW I had their HD available and I had 2 dishes on my roof; in fact when I cancelled I told DNW I live in a 2 story home and if they wanted their dishes they could come get them. Guess what? the 2 dishes are still there. Things might have changed with DNW more recently though; have U asked DNW? garys 07-01-2007, 07:23 AM The two dish setup for HD depends on your location. Most of the US can get it via one dish, along the NE part of the US requires two. If you give your location and what else you want for programing, ie: foreign language, locals ect, someone here can give better info. trainerman99 07-01-2007, 03:30 PM I live in Mid Missouri 65203 to be exact and am wanting to get Dish HD package with the America 250 and my locals. 2 Dishes on my house or just 1 I hope? Thanks. garys 07-01-2007, 04:14 PM Should be one dish unless you have a line of sight problem. Outofmymind67 07-02-2007, 06:56 AM I think unless you want to add the Voom Package to your HD, you should be able to get away with just the one dish. If you want to add the Voom Package, you need another dish for the 61.5 signal, which is where most, if not all the Voom programming comes from. garys 07-02-2007, 07:15 AM I think unless you want to add the Voom Package to your HD, you should be able to get away with just the one dish. If you want to add the Voom Package, you need another dish for the 61.5 signal, which is where most, if not all the Voom programming comes from. There is only one HD package anymore, several of the mpeg4 non-voom channels are also on 61.5. jim5506 07-02-2007, 02:24 PM VOOM is on both 61.5 and 129 and is not available as a seperate package. daleb 07-02-2007, 04:39 PM VOOM is on both 61.5 and 129 and is not available as a seperate package. This is true. Whether you need one or two Dishes is based on your location and ease of reception for one or the other satellite. Yes616 07-02-2007, 04:48 PM I think unless you want to add the Voom Package to your HD, you should be able to get away with just the one dish. If you want to add the Voom Package, you need another dish for the 61.5 signal, which is where most, if not all the Voom programming comes from. Voom is also on 129. That is why most of the country gets away with just one dish. It is low in the south western sky. The Dish 1000 or 1000.2 (a little larger) should work for Voom as long as there are no obstacles the way. Most everything else HD is on 110. The only one who must have a second dish aimed towards 61.5 are the people in the northeast. Also, make sure you get a ViP series receiver like ViP 622 DVR, ViP 211 or ViP 222 or you will miss out on alot. They are all MPEG-4 and that is where Dish and everyone else is headed. | |
