I'm a former HR10-250 TIVO user and recently switched to Dish and the VIP622. The TIVO unit used to allow one to pause both live TV tuners and watch a recorded program from the playlist and if decided to stop watching the recorded program and go back to live TV both tuners would still be paused (assuming the 30 min. buffer didn't expire). This feature doesn't appear to work with 622, anyone else have this issue? The other issue is if we record a program on one of the tuners, swap to the second tuner and then decide to swap back the program didn't stay paused.

Correct about live TV. Leaving a live show, without recording it, will lose what your watching. Don't forget that with OTA antenna, you can record 3 at once (2 sat, 1 local). I think the way you switch between recorded/recording programs can effect whether or not you "resume" vs. rejoin live. On the positive side, you can pause an hour now!
