I have a suggestion!! You can Edit your own posts!!

If I could weigh in on something!! In most other forums I'm on you can edit your posts after you post them. It doesn't give you 1/2 an hour to edit your post. Like one post I made where I put up my Blu Ray's that I own I got some new one's and I'd rather just edit that post than put another pic up ya know what I mean.
Just a suggestion!!
Mischa.

I too would like to either have the 1/2 time limit extended or removed.

Me too! Plus I'll add get rid of "Your post is too short" message! You can't even agree to something by just typing "+2".

The author of a post should be able to edit the post, as long as noone has directly responded to it.

After someone posts you cant edit it at all!! It totally goes away!! That's what I was saying. I cant edit my 1st post right now!!

:offtopic :hithere: :hi , I was just checking out this thread and noticed that you, mischa316, have a 42" philips plasma ambilight, correct ?

If that is correct, how do you like it and how long have you had it ?

I'm inquiring only because I just purchased a 50" plasma ambilight (philips):yippee: and am waiting on delivery, but am getting anxious to see it.

Any comments or insight/opinion would be appreciated. Also if you use it for gaming or not ?:gamer

Thank you:D

First of all let me say I don't have any control over these things.

I think having been on several forums over the years the reason for the not allowed to edit posts after a time period serves a purpose. People misspeak all of the time and especially if they type their posts in haste. Once another poster either corrects or disputes the post, it quickly becomes chaos if the original poster can just go fix the post. It is much better from a record standpoint if the original poster will just make a subsequent post acknowledging the mistake or correction.

Then you have the issue of flaming. If a poster is allowed to erase or alter a flaming post then there is no record of what happened and can often lead in the banning of the wrong poster. This can happen when the message board is turned into a chat thread even with the 30 minute time allowance.

Fortunately we don't have much flaming here so that would not be a big problem, but I have posted on boards where it is.

Ok I can understand that. So when I get my new pic of the new blu ray's I should just post it again. I just didn't want to take up more room that's the only reason why I suggested it.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks again. Almost a year, and being you're in Florida I guess it is safe to assume no heat issues huh ?

I'll say this when I am using it heats up the room. It get's very hot. I haven't had a problem with it though. sometimes when I turn on the cable box it has the picture but the white fuzzy on the screen as well so you just have to hit channel up and down and it's fine. That's about it. Plus I have it hooked into a monster power surge protector the one that's like $200.00. Monster will guarentee up to $25,000 if a surge hit's it!! Since I"m in Florida and there are alot of thunderstorms in the summer month's I got one of those just incase ya know.

I have made posts and immediately tried to edit them and can't. I don't have any problem with forums that allow unlimited editing to one's own post as long as date and time of edit is shown. I have had my own name misspelled as a result of not being able to immediately edit a typo. I don't even know how to use a spell checker on this forum and often misspell words as a result and don't see that until I read a second time after posting.

The spell checker has to be downloaded. Once you do that it will spell check any site where you enter words, not just this site.

That sounds too easy . .

Post once - edit three times:D
