Antenna Question, no channel available

So I've got a Samsung DLP HL-T4675S TV, and I'm using an RCA HDTV Antenna. I'm looking for OTA signals and I know there is a Fox signal at 17.1. Antennaweb says it's there and the SD channel at 17 comes in, but for some reason, either the TV isn't recognizing it or the Antenna isn't picking up 17.1, anyone have any suggestions for how I can get this FOX HD signal?

FYI, I'm in Sioux Falls, SD, and my zip code is 57105.

What model antenna do you have? The Fox digital version, 17.1, is VHF. The analog version, 17, is UHF. You need to make sure your antenna can pick up VHF signals.

It's an RCA ANT585 which appears to have both VHF and UHF capacity.

RCA ANT585 Link (http://http://accessories.rca.com/en-US/modeldetail.html?maincat=Antennas&subcat=Amplified+TV+Antennas&modelnum=ANT585) Would there be a setting that I have to adjust so that the Antenna is picking up VHF signals as well?

Thanks.

Yes, it does appear to be UHF/VHF. And, although it seems that the tower is close to you, antennaweb is suggesting a medium sized directional antenna for that station. Try moving it around and you may be able to find a sweet spot for getting that channel. Or you may have to get one to mount outside.

Yeah, what the DeadHead said (hmm that rimes:D ). You will need a combo antenna but I think the RCA is both VHF and UHF. Do you recieve all the other digital channels like ABC, NBC and CBS? Make sure you are scanning for both digital and analog stations..

After I reposition the antenna is there a feature that my tv will have where it will rescan all the frequencies? I haven't found it yet if there is(i'm new to both the tv and the antenna).

I really don't have all that much excuse to watch any programming on Fox ever since AD was cancelled, but it's frustrating to see a signal there that I just can't get. And it'll be nice to have once Football season starts back up.

(1) Couldn't you just type "17.1" into the TV remote? That should work.

(2) The "scan for channels" option is usually in the main menu.

(3) Maybe you need a better antenna? Like this one (best indoor antenna):

I type 17-1 into the remote and it reverts back to the channel it's currently on. I can't seem to find a scan for channels feature on my Sammy HL-T4675s.

See below channel 17.1 is channel 7.
So you must enter 07 on the remote to get it to scan to the digital channel. You are only 2.7 miles from the tower. You may have too much of antenna. Try rabbit ears and a UHF loop.

Wierd, Thanks for the tip, I'll have to give it a shot tonight when I get home. Will it be 7.1 then I assume?

I have a samsung too and when the digital channel is not in memory you have to type in the frequency assignment(which you can find at antennaweb.org) ex. you would just type in 7 and it should check for digital first, and if there is nothing digital it goes to analog. Once the channel is in memory then you can use any method to get there. for ex you can type 7, or 7.1, or 7-1.

I seem to not be able to acquire Fox's digital signal. I'll probably have to get a different antenna or just try to move it to a different part of the house. I plugged the co-ax coming from the antenna into the dish network VIP 622 receiver that I just got and even that can't seem to find the Fox digital signal.
