sharp 1080p and xbox 360

i have a 1080p sharp aquos panel and i have the 360 connected via a component to vga cable. this allows 1080i to be selected on the dashboard but not 1080p. do i need to buy the 360 vga cable to do this ?

not necessarily, you can get 1080p through the compnent cables of the xbox360, BUT, your tv has to be capable of ACCEPTING a 1080p signal through component cables....some tv's allow this, but many do not. if this is the case with your tv, then yes, you will need the xbox360 vga cable.

My t.v does not have component conections only vga. but i am put off by the xbox vga cable because it states on the xbox site that this cable only outputs up to 720p.

no, the cable outputs to 1080p..i don't know whether or not the website for the vga cable was updated, but it does output 1080p. you can check out the xbox.com forums if you need to to confirm this, but it will output 1080p for sure
