Coastal Oregon HD reception...

I've had a vip 622 with the HD package since last March and have always had problems with my HD channels above 9476 [or something like that] - the ones that come from the 129 sat.

So, back in March the fixes suggested were: ground this, ground that..... on and on and no fixes...

Well, finally got fed up and got a service tech out here and lo and behold. There is a rumor that this is a known problem. The 129 sat is apparently wobbling or something. So the signal drops out every 30-45 minutes or so.

The fix is to install a separate dish - 24" vertical ellipse - for just the 129 sat. That seems to be fixing me right up.

So if you are experiencing periodic drop out problems with HD signals and you are on the west coast - although it sounds like it could be a problem anywhere - you might check to see if a separate dish for sat 129 will help.

HD is great, when it doesn't drop out....

Just got my old 18" dish replaced with the 24" for sat 129. Still occasional dropouts here in Lincoln City, Oregon but much improved. I can live with it until they replace? sat 129.

When I signed up for Dish HD this spring on the initial install they put up 2 separate dishes. Have the larger one for 129.

Had been seeing a lot of break-up and signal being lost but last week I decided to adj the dishes myself. Sign for 129 is now up about 20 points and seeing sig strength of 80. On the other dish sign strength is up about 10 points. Haven't seen any sig problems since.
