Im gonna buy the full HD dvr package from Dish. Who should I buy from? vip 622 and 625
most places have the package for ~$68 a month for 10 months and then $99.
SunDish.com - giving a free portable dvd player (xmas present for dad) and a few other things.
Satellitesales.com seems ok.
Any recommendations?

Buy it direct through DishNetwork or authorized dealer, the people you have listed get commissions on sales while Dish actually does the work. Most sell 'special deals' to their customers which Dish does not honor and leaves the customer with all kinds of headaches trying (and to no avail) to get what they were promised. Also, most of the DVD players they 'give' you, one can pick up for less then $50.

I agree with Garys. Buy from Dish directly because believe me you will have some problems and you want to go directly to dish to have them looked after. I have the dish platinum package and, overall I am satisfied with their service. I do have some issues with the 622 dvr receiver but everything else seems to be ok.

Buying through Dish, is not always the easiest traveled road, but unless you know of a specific installer with an excellent rep from friends and neighbors, you have to take what Dish throws at you.
That's the good and bad of it.
By now most installers are very familiar with the 622 and various configurations to effect a good installation for you.
It seems right after the introduction of the new receivers, and the Dish 1000, etc. there were many complaints about installs. I don't see that many anymore.

interesting thoughts from all of you. I assume whomever I go thru will contract with a local installer in my area. I guess I have to hope for a good installer.
I agree that I should purchase from an authorized dealer. Any recommendations for authorized internet Dish dealer

I never had install problems when I lived in San Jose (and I don't now). I don't remember what company did the install, but Dish sent them.
I don't know who would be good in SF. Might ask neighbors, etc.
I am sure the majority just call Dish.

There is a local dealer locator on the DishNetwork site. You could start there and see if you can get referals once you have the installer's business names.

When i inquired to Dish about buying er.... leasing my 622 they told me it would take 2 weeks......I went to a dealer in town here, he had a 622 on the shelf, installed it next day and even programmed my remotes

Well, I have had Dish for over 2 weeks now and I would have to say its so much better than Comcast and one of the best things ive done in a long time
I went with an authorized dealer called SunDish.com. They were very nice, im gettitng a free dvd portable player, 18 months of free protection plan, $50 from Sundish.com, plus all the other offers that DishNetwork is offering.
I had a tech out in 2 days and I guess I got lucky and cause I got an actual Dish Network installer and not a subcontractor. I was up and running in 3hrs with new cable running to 3 rooms.
I guess the lesson learned here is that you can get a little bit more offerings from an authorized dealer and also to request an actual Dish Network installer as opposed to a sub contractor.

I was going to go through Dish direct but they told me that there was a 30 day wait to get a 622. They also told me I needed a Dish 1000. My local authorized dealer had it the 622 in stock and said that the Dish 100 was wrong. I'm in Northern Vermont and get the 61, 110, 119 sats, with a little searching on this site I found that my local guy was right. I paid for it that Thursday night and Friday morning at 9 am I was watching TV. Not sure if theres still issues getting the 622 now or not but you might want to look into it.

Unfortunately, not all dealer/installers are created equal. If only it were so, I am sure most of us would rather give the business to local firms.

I ordered DISH Network through Sundish 8 months ago and while their printed material says you should get the $100 rebate (I think they now offer $200!!) in 12 weeks, the truth is you won't get it. It's been 8 months for me and I've called them about once a month. The check is always in the mail but finally this time I got one of the customer service reps who was quite nice and confided that the CEO/General Manager of the company was "holding on to the cheques" and not releasing them. This was conveyed to me by the CS rep through the clerk colleague who handles the rebate checks.
I am about to file a complaint on Sundish for fraudulent advertising practices. Does anyone know the most effective route for doing this? Principles must be upheld. Apparently the CEO's name is Jason something.
