direct tv vs dish network:
i read through the post and it doesn't look like anything is very great with either. when will every channel be in hd?
right now i have direct tv total choice plus on 3 tv's. my bill is about $63/month. if i upgrade to hdtv it sounds like it will go over $75 plus if i go with dvr, will they charge me another $5 per month for the hook up. i guess that's one of the biggest thinks that bugs me about switching from cable. i used to have every cable plug in the house wired up. now with direct i have to pay $5 per output.
right now which is the best deal for hd, direct or dish? i watch some sports and would like my local channels, but i would still like to get more hd channels than the 10 channels offered by direct or the 20 channels offered by dish/voom.

Make that about 30 national HD channels on Dish. Local HD's depend on where you are.

Which of the two has a more resistant signal against bad weather or rain?

can't speak for the dish, but my direct tv used to go out on cloudy days. i got sick of it and was about to switch when i called direct tv. service rep said whoever installed the system first did a crappy job on the connections. he remade them and now we have very few outages. what does suck though, is just when you want to see if the tornado is about to hit your house, the tv goes out. i also miss the weather channel local on the 8's.
