Technical Questions concerning DishHD

I have a couple of questions concerning DishHD. Hoping someone here can help out because my installer had no clue about anything :-(

- Do I need the second dish for all HD channel or VOOM HD only ?
- If I take down the second dish, do I lose the MPEG4 capabilities on my VIP622?

Thanks
M

Some HD is on 110 and some is mirrored on 61.5 and 129. Here is the 110 list of channels: http://ekb./110list.htm

Use the menu at the top to look at 61.5 and 129 also.

MPEG4 capabilities are in the receiver, not the satellite.

There are channels in MPEG4 on 110 and 61.5/129.

When they installed my Dish HD they only put one dish but it has 3 LNB's (I think they're called) pointing back at the dish.

I have a Dish 1000 also, but my signal on 129 was so wobbly that I bought a dish 500 on ebay and pointed it at 61.5 instead of using 129.

I guess it depends on what part of the country you are in. I have a Dish 1000 and have no problems with 110,119 or 129

I live in the northeast (Clifton, NJ)

so the regular dish gets me which angle ? 110, 61.5 or 129?

If the Dish 1000 should get you 110, 119, and 129.
If the signal for 129 is too weak a separate Dish 500 can be used for 61.5.
More experienced installers will already know which works best in your locale.

You have to use a specific inclination and azimuth for each satellite based on your location.
IF you go to the Point Dish selection on the receiver menu it will have put in your zip code for the correct angles.
Read your owner's manual, it explains this and more.

Most of NE US cannot see 129, you may have not choice but to get 61.5, most of the area's HD locals are on 61.5 (Phily, NYC and Boston.)

Ok thanks guys.. I checked it over and I think that I can probably get all HDs but no locals if I stick with one dish. it would help if Dish can hire some technically inclined installers to help out their customers instead of just putting up dishes b.c. the work order says so..
