Cablevision - NHL HD away games and DD 5.1?

I am new to this forum.

Was wondering about NHL away games in HD. I watch all the home games for the Rangers in HD. Why are all away games in SD? I work for a company that takes in all the NHL games home or away in HD. So why, does the consumer/fan, get screwed from viewing such games?

Also, why does Cablevision black out INHD for Rangers games on Versus?

And one more question: Why can we not receive these games in Dolby Digital 5.1? I can enjoy a baseball game or football game in 5.1, how come us hockey fans can't enjoy this option on MSGHD and FSNHD?

I couldn't have said it better. I am a Rangers fan in NJ and have been wondering the same things. Especially the INHD blackouts. What gives?

Not to sure if it is available to you but you should look into TSN HD out of Canada they are full HD feed all the time so all NHL games they broadcast are in HD. Here is a link to their NHL broadcasts.

http://www.tsn.ca/hd/ontsn/?sport=HD&hubname=

It is updated all the time.

I am from the NY/NJ area. Our cable provider (Cabelvision) does not carry TSN. It would be great if we did. Until then, any other thoughts or info about the above?

Im not sure why they blacked out the Rangers HD feed on Versus. They did not black it out when the Devils played Pittsburgh on Versus so it seems very odd. I think that they do carry select away games. I think that the broadcast the games in pittsburgh and boston in HD and obviously the games on Long Island and in New Jersey.

I was thinking about the blackout and it makes total sense now. Because the awful MSG network was not carrying the game, and Versus is O&O'ed by Comcast, MSG (Cablevision) blacked the game out. What a miserable thing to do to the fans/customers of this area. While the big wigs of these conglomorates argue about revenue sharing and television rights, we get screwed in which way.

And where is my hockey in DD 5.1!!!

They put the Islanders-Flyers game in Philly last night in HD. Let's hope that there are more HD road games to come.
