The author of that article doesn't know what he is talking about:

"In terms of hardware, studio commitment, and pure specs, Blu-ray has the edge"

Studio committment yes, BR has a slight edge, but specs and hardware Blue Ray has been outclassed by HD-DVD in almost all areas, at least in the first generation models HD-DVD has more capacity 30GB to 25GB, better more advanced compression MPEG 4 verses MPEG2, better audio support (built in decoders for the new codecs), interet upgradeable.

Agreed. Very poorly written. If joe public reads that for example, he thinks "great! I need BD for 1080p. I'll look great on my 3 year old HDTV! Much better than that crappy 1080i".

Of course, a minute percentage of HDTVs out there can handle 1080p.

Oh well. Just goes to show that nobody wins in this fiasco.
