Just ordered a 622. Although they said it would take several weeks I suspect it may arrive earlier. Although they set me up with a tech appointment, do I really need it. I currently already have a dish 1000 w/ hd package and Voom. Perhaps I could just swap the 942 and call DN to set me up via phone?

for some reasons Dish cust. spprt is waaay wrong on this one. i was told (on May 18th) that a new 622 will take 3-4 weeks and it is currently on backorder. then it arrived early morning on May 22 (Monday). i am in SF Bay Area and now my appt is 2 weeks away and since a new dish 1000 is to be installed i wont be able to do it on my own. check w/ Dish, they may not honor the discount on the upgrade if you install y ourself??

...check w/ Dish, they may not honor the discount on the upgrade if you install y ourself??Not true.

I got my 622 in 6 days, self-installed/activated it on the 6th day, and received my rebate credit about 2 weeks later.

I contacted a Tech to get mine activated (took 3 phone calls), and I had to demonstrate that I know my set-up inside and out before the Tech would do it; antennae, LNB's, sats, switches, and other equipment (DPP separator).

I've read in other posts that there may be warranty issues with a self-install, as in voiding the warranty, but I don't know if that's true or not. I haven't had a need to bring the warranty up with anyone, as my 622 has been reliable and stable (minus a few known bugs).

You will need the 3LNB DISH 1000. If you have this then yes.
