remote to work with dvd/vcr?

I have a vip211, just got a samsung dvd/vr325 upconverting dvd recorder/vcr. I can't get my dish remote to work with it. If anyone knows any codes that will work, I'd appreciate it. I've tried all the codes in the book for samsung dvds and vcrs, and I've tried to get the remote to self recognize it, wouldn't work, also customer service was no help. They said the remote wouldn't work with most dvd/vcrs so I figured I'd ask all you gurus!

My suggestion is to go get a universal remote. It operates my 211, dvd/vcr, tv and home theater system. I paid about $30 for this one at Best Buy. Works great.

thanks but I'm trying to set up the dvd/vcr to work like a pvr through the 211 reciever. My old mitsubishi vcr would work like this but it was kind of a hassle with the tapes, I thought the dvd burner would be a lot better. And I know I could just get a pvr for this, but then I couldn't burn all my vhs tapes to dvds. can't have everything i guess....:)

Get the URC 9660. I have it and it is the best remote I have ever had. Nice blue backlight so you can see it in the dark. Just get rechargable batteries as it is a battery eater.
