New HD channel on dish tonight

I heard it was included in AT180, for those with HD. Info states it is HD feed for NHL games on OLN.

Channel number is 9463.

Easy to find; just press the Guide button on the remote until the All HD listing appears.

If I understand then you need to have either the HD Gold or Platinum package to get NHL HD. HD Silver, which I have, would not qualify.
Am I right ?

Why does OLN require the Gold package at a minimum? I am not sure if this is true or not but I heard OLN is part of the most basic package for Comcast. This stinks.

It is a DISH requirement that you have at least the AT180 or HD Gold. That was the whole argument why DISH dropped OLN back in Oct. OLN said that DISH must carry OLN on all its tiers. DISH said no and there was a big argument. DISH ended up dropping OLN until the playoffs. You can ala-carte OLN for $1.99 a month on the AT60, AT120, HD Bronze, or HD Silver packages. From what I understood OLN was only available on the upper packages of Comcast and they demanded that DISH carry it on all packages. Comcast owns OLN btw.

The NHL wanted thier games to be able to seen to as many people as possible coming off thier strike year, they signed with OLN, DISH considered OLN to be a sports channel and wanted it in the Sports package catagory, there fore refusing to place it in the basic package, that is why OLN went off of DISH originally the two could not come to an agreement...
D* has OLN but no OLN-HD, untill the 2nd round of the playoffs. If you watch hockey in HD, you will see why no one wants to watch it on SD ...... Hockey in HD is AWESOME, helps the game tremendously :thumbsup:

Anything in HD is awesome, especially sports. I find it very difficult to watch SD programming anymore.

Dish classified this as a special events, error 028 when I try to record.
