hi, i ordered the new dish HD 622 rx on 5/18 and received it on 5/22 (yayyy) despite the customer support person stating it would take 3-4 weeks to arrive. also got a box to ship back my old 921 DVR. $299 sucks but I want my HDTV and ESPN2HD and the locals in HD (SF Bay Area). my questions are:
- are there 2 wires or 1 wire from the SuperDish to the receiver?
- will i still need the extra dish for the International Programming?
- i only have 2 coax cables home-run wired in to each room and if they are taken up by the SuperDish feed + Intl dish feed, i wont have any pre-existing cable to feed the extra TV set possible w/ 622 -- are there any wireless solutions that will transmit through 1 floor and some 30 feet of separation between the receiver and the second TV set? any other smart solutions short of running a new wire separately from SuperDish to receiver (hate the idea of drilling holes in the walls or windows)?
- the customer spprt person stated i *MUST* have a phone line connected at all time so they can poll and confirm the receiver is in the house it was ordered for etc etc and will charge $5 p.m. if it is not connected. i have never connected a phone line to my previous dish receivers and the 921DVR and never had a problem before -- do you know if they use the phone line for anything except polling/testing if its tied to the customer phone line? i doubt they would push Firmware upgrades or Program guides via the phone line ???
much thanks.

I think you mean a Dish 1000 for 110 119 and 129 satellites. (not a superdish). Your extra dish remaining for your intn'l channels.
the Dish 1000 will require a mutliswitch to allow the additional output to support the 622 dual input from a single cable to the receiver.
With 2 dishes, the extra output is available when the installer puts up a twin LNBF. on the 110/119 dish. An extra dish being necessary to pick up 61.5 (instead of 129) for Voom, etc.
A 1000 is a good solution for you, depending on your reception area, rather than having 3 dishes up there. But the difference is largely cosmetic.
yes, you need the phone line. Or be charged an additional $5 a month. It is only for audit purposes from Dish's point of view.
On the plus side, it does offer you some interactive goodies including caller ID notifications of incoming calls displayed on the screen.

... i am a little confused now - what is the difference between Dish 1000 and SuperDish? Do both get 110 (local and other Dish channels), 119 (HD locals), and 61 (intl w/ mirror on 129), and 129 ?

HD will mirror on 129. I am not aware what satellite is used for international channels.
This may give a clue.

the intl channels i get are listed on the dishnetwork.com website as
Satellite: 148 121 61.5
Channel 618 808 618
txponder 9 25 26
and
Satellite: 148 121 61.5
Channel 584 794 585
txponder 25 16 12
so the 121 SuperDish wont work that would give me 110/119/121 but not 129....

i finally got someone clueful at dish on my 3rd try and she said:
Dish 1000 will be installed which lets me pick DishHD Gold/Silver/Pt w/ HD locals and whatever other channels I want (129, 110, 119). Dish 1000 comes w/ "DishProPlus Twin LNB" which combines the signals in to 1 coax (RG 6). international programming is only on 121/61.5/148 for which I would need an additional dish and the DishProPlus Twin LNB has a port for connecting to the additional LNB on this additional dish.
this (may) free up my second RG6 coax in the room for connecting to TV2 (SD feed from 622) without running additional wires or buying the AngelTrax $180 wireless feeder to do it wirelessly.
thanks for the additional pointers.

thanks for the additional pointers.Something doesn't sound right about that set-up... You'd get 110 and 119 on the DPP Twin and you'd get 129 on a DP Dual or DP Single, all on one antenna... To get a fourth satellite location (121, 61.5, or 148), I think you're going to need a DP44 Switch.
Don't take my word for it because I'm not a professional installer but, I'd try calling Dish back and going through their Tech folks to be sure... you can also review info on the Dish tech portal site (http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/techportal/index.shtml).

i should have been more clear. i have 2 coax (RG6) cables to every tv location in the house - home run wired from basement closet. My (current) understanding is that the Dish1000 w/ DPP Twin LNB will multiplex the dish 1000 feeds + 1 other LNB feed so the feed from satellite runs to the basement closet on 1 wire and from there to the TV1/622 location on one of hte wires. I can then use wire#2 to connect from 622 to basement closet and then to the TV2 location. i have drawn and attached a jpg of the proposed arrangement. thanks for the pointer to the dish tech portal -- it is quite useful. i also found www.dbsinstall.com to be quite helpful as well.
thx. (scheduled install now on june 5th)

...the Dish1000 w/ DPP Twin LNB will multiplex the dish 1000 feeds + 1 other LNB feed...This is the part that didn't sound right to me... the standard D1000 installation guidelines suggest only 3 orbital locations (110, 119, 129) can be multiplexed by the DPP Twin. http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/techequiDish-1000.shtml
That's why I thought an additional switch might be necessary.
Best wishes with your install!
