VIP 622 Question

I just got a vip622 and a tech. will be out here 5/29 but i was wondering if i could hook up the receiver now or just wait until monday. Any help is appreciated i am new to Hd.

You could hook it up, but it has not been activated (you get nothing).

You could call dish and activate it, but that would cancel your installer visit and you probably do not have the correct satellite dishes for receiving HD content.

Unless you already have Dish HD service with a 921 or 942 you are better off to let them do the installation you have paid for anyway and have a little patience.

Set it on a shelf where you can admire it and dream of HD programming.

Not to mention, you need the DISH 1000 3LNB system to fully utilize the 622 capabilities. The 3rd LNB is for 129 satellite. The VOOM channels are on sat 129 and are mpeg4. I also recommend that you hook up an OTA antenna to the 622 to utilize the built in ATSC tuner. This will allow you to record OTA HD programs. It makes the 622 even more functional.
