Should I bother with 622 upgrade.

Ok so here is my question, should I bother qith 622 upgrade? I current have a 942 with standard DN HD package and Voom package. All channels work great, allot of HD viewing. Now I know the 622 has the Mpeg4 and I will probably get a few local HD channels, however I also hear of freezing and bugs with the 622, and I wonder if perhaps I should just leave a good thing alone, and not worry about a few local HD channels.

Like anything else, most people report problems not good experiences.
The 622 works great for most us I would say.

I had a lot more problems with the 921 than I do with the 622.

That might be a while. But as long as Dish (and other providers) can broadcast mpeg4 and there are mpeg4 receivers, they will continue to add new mpeg4 channels as they are available.
It's already reached the point of not getting all you are paying for if you only have an mpeg2 receiver. Everyone has a different threshold.

Even without the 4 more channels coming on line in June, the number of channels not available from the Voom Pak + HD Pak vs. what's available in a DishHD package seemed pretty significant to me.

I would wait until they fix all the problems. My wife has been complaining all the time since we switched to the 622. 4 weeks and I already hate dish network for selling something with so many problems.

You will need either a 211 or 622 as a lot of things are going mpeg4. I understand a lot of the VOOM channels are mpeg4 right now. I have also been told they are tagged as mpeg4 so only the 211 and 622 can receive them. I dont know what to fully believe. There is a lot more HD content when you get the new receivers as well. So yes, I think it is a worthwhile upgrade.

I have had nothing but good since I got my 622. Is it perfect? No, nothing is. There will always be quirks in the system. Is there a better HD DVR out there? No.
