do i understand that to mean i get those 6 channels for free for the next month basically?

These 6 channels will contain varoius content that is ordinarily available only if you have certain packages. Each set of six channels will display for one month, then be changed to another set of six channels.

if any of those 6 channels during the preview period are in HD will the broadcast be on an HD channel i.e. Showtime and Showtime HD ?

Bummer.. The way I am reading the website, the answer here seems to be no and it would be Showtime right now. I do not see it on the channels guide on the TV either.
