Got a call from the Audit Department....what next?

On Monday I got a call from Dish's audit/enforcement dept. They were less than friendly and wanted me to read off my two receivers since they suspected one was "illegal". I was able to do that as requested in one call and without "hanging-up". I have had this set-up for over 5 years but they determined that since one receiver was connected to another phone line ( our guest house) it was not legal and they said it would be disconnected. I would need to set up a new account for the other receiver.....after a mild protest...I hung up.

4 days later no disconnect yet.... is the "shoe still going to fall?"

Why was the phone line connected? That's certainly a red flag! If the guest house is a different address I would expect it to be cut off.

As I said this set up has been this way for almost 5 years...I never knew I was doing anything wrong....in hindsight I know better...

Why didn't they just cut it off on Monday?

I'd be leary of a possible scam going on.

Maybe they wanted you to set up a new account with your credit card....after you verified you billing address, of course.

Yeah I would call them back.

I have heard of these scams with credit cards. They call you, and read off all of your information because they already have all of it, and ask you to give them the 3 digit code on the back of the card for security purposes or something like that. I don't remember what the rest of the scam was but it was DAMN good.

Call DISH directly I would say... or check your credit cards!

It didn't feel like a scam... at no time was the word "credit card" mentioned....

They may have been on the up and up, or after your "mild protest" and hang up, they may have called the next one on their list.

Glad to here your service was interrupted. :yippee:
