OK, i have been posting like mad recently, but I just made the switch from Comcast to DISH. Really looking forward to the HD channels, and the lower price. Even with the $300 DVR costs, I am saving money over 16 months with DISH and ATT.

Fingers crossed that the wife likes it.. but we used to be DISH customers a year ago before we went to Comcast, so we know that they are good.

So is everyone happy with the HD selection that DISH has?

Thanks!

yes extremely happy here....i got hd silver......thinking about going gold before next hockey season so i can watch oln (or vs as it will be known as)

anyways.....

with the base cost of hd being 19.99 for 20 some odd channels.....once you get one of the hd packages (bronze-platinum) the hd price gets discounted down to like 14.99 (technically). So basically paying 5 more dollars than everyone else, comcast and direct, and having an additional 20 channels that i dont necessarily watch all the time, but i have them....just waiting for food network, oln (vs), and fsn in hd sometime this year and i will be extrememly content.

Welcome!

I have the platinum package....and HD locals....very happy....

Dish has the most HD content...and I am watching things like the Rush channel....(extreme sports) all the time...the scenery is great, the music is interesting and those guys are crazy.....

Also, love the Rave channel....some great concerts, and they look amazing...for laughs sometimes we watch the monster channel...old 50s movies on the big screen!!!

Admittedly, I am an A/V freak, even more rare in a female..

If you are interested in HD...you won't be sorry!

You know you can get OLN ala-carte for $1.99? So you dont have to upgrade packages, just buy OLN.

I thought the Outdoor Channel could be purchased for 1.99. Isnt OLN (Outdoor Living Network) a different channel altogether ?

No, that is The Oudoor Channel on 153. OLN is Outdoor Life Network on 151.

I'm strongly considering switching to DISH from Comcast right now. I was under the impression that you had to buy one of the HD packages (Bronze-Platinum) to get ANY HD channels. Is this not true?

I'd probably end up getting one of the DishHD packages anyway, but just weighing all my options.

Plus, I noticed something about an ATT discount. I have them for long distance. Any links to point me in the right direction about that?

Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to Dish, I just made the switch about a week ago with the gold package and I love their HD lineup. Let us know how it goes, and tell us the picture difference from your Comcast to your new Dish?

i am pretty sure you can get a dish 1000, an 811 receiver and just have the hd channels for 19.99/month plus your leasing fees and install.....might want to call dish and ask cause i dont think this is really advertised on their website.....

as far as oln a-la-carte....i dont know....i had asked about a month ago about a-la-carte cause my wife wanted style network and at that time oln was not back on the dish lineup yet......have to check on that one......doesnt matter now....hockey playoffs are almost over now.....

Ohh, OK. Well, it would probably make more sense to just get the HD package since then I'd get my HD for the HDTV as well as the SD channels for the other TVs.
