I watched the Clippers / Suns last night on TNTHD and it looked incredible. Pixelating you are describing is caused by algorithms on a computer with a slow processor. Usually poor signal strength causes freezing, black blocks, etc. The processor in your STB does not know what to do if the signal drops below an acceptable level. Fortunately digital signals require a much lower s/n ratio than analog. With digital, you either get it or you dont.

What receiver do you have? If your are getting poor PQ from DISH, call DISH.

I think ghosting and pixelation are two different things. If you are getting pixelation with black or green blocks then that is your signal.

I have noticed ghosting on some of my channels and it seems to come and go. I even noticed on the TNT NBA hd games which have possibly the best picture. It seems to come and go as well. I believe ghosting is caused by your tv, or is it the signal that can be causing this? My tv is LCD and has more ghosting than most other tvs. Are you noticing it with any of your other devices? DVD player, etc?

What does ghosting look like on an HDTV? I know ghosting as when an analog TV signal is weak. Digital signals dont ahve that.

I define ghosting as when the image seems to follow the image. Its hard to define. But it usually happens on action sequences/fast paced scenes. Usually looks black. Same as analog. Ghosting is possible with SD and HD? I always thought so. LCD tv's with low response times have a lot of ghosting.

What you are describing is called smearing. Smearing is the result of either slow image response by your TV or high compression by the distributor.

Ghosting is when there are multiple images overlayed in a horizonal pattern across the screen.

I find most of tnt;s non live stuff to be nothing more than good sd. The movies they show are older and most likely just upconverted.
But hey, that are better than sd.

Yeah it's hit or miss with TNT-HD. The Closer and Without A Trace for example, or newer episodes of Law & Order look very good. Some of the newer films they show, like Lord of the Rings and Spider-Man, are unbelievable. Their NBA coverage is quite good as well.
