High resolution maybe? It is not HD, according to the ATSC anyway.
I just read an article that said when Hitachi introduced 1024x1024 Plasma displays as HD, other manufacturers were crying foul. So I would tend to believe that 1024x768 is not considered HD by the CE industry either.

I agree maximus, but there are so many brands comming out with 1024x768 panels in the 42" size that it seems they are going to be sucessful in degrading the HD spec. If there were some (more) HD panels in the 42" size, it would be harder to pass 1024x768 off as HD.

Thanks rbinck I had no idea about this trend, hopefully it won't creep up to the 50 inchers.

Yes 1024x768 is very common for computer monitors.

I doubt the 1024x768 resolution will creep to the 50" plasmas. The reason is the physical size of the individual pixels. Unlike the LCD where they have difficulty in getting a pixel big enough for the 50" screens, the plasmas have the opposite problem.

They had a heck of a time getting 1024x1024 on the 42" which used to be the best you could do for a 42" plasma befor the recient 1024x768 units.
