I just bought a floor model 34XBR960 which works well. Only I am waiting on the original remote. My satellite receiver and service is non-HD for now and I want to pull in free HD over the antenna, which should be no problem 8 miles outside of the center of a major metropolitan area. Unfortunately I don't see any way to switch over to the antenna coax feed as all the current remotes I have have no ANT button. Is there something I'm missing.
Also I note that once I get the orginal remote I do not believe it is capable of accepting the code for the Phillips satellite receiver which likely post-dates the date of the TV. Anyway around this little problem?

Once you get your Sony remote, the video mode for the ATSC tuner on your 960 should be accessible from your other remotes via programming those remotes if they have an AUX option or similar. In the meantime you will need to use the video mode button directly on the TV.
As for the Philips receiver, manufacturers usually use the same series of access codes for all their devices in order to avoid remote compatibility problems. I've always been able to get older remotes to work with newer devices.

I show something like six inputs on the video mode, each of these seems to be for hooking up a VCR, DVD player or the like. Each of these seems to correspond to AV cables, component cables, S-video cables or outputs for monitors.
The two coax connections on the back are cable and VHF/UHF. The caption at the top in video mode shows me I am on the cable input. That's the one I cant seem to scroll to and change to the antenna. The manual says just to press the antenna button, but as you know I don't have one. Maybe I'm just drifting out here but I don't see how to go through any menu to switch from cable to the antenna input.
I have tried with my 27XBR45 remote, a Sony programmable universal remote and my Direct TV remotes which are all set to Sony TVs to get to the antenna through AUX buttons or TV/Video buttons to no avail.
If you could walk me through it in the video mode I'd be grateful.

Looks like you're out of luck until the remote arrives. I went through the manual and it looks like the ANT function on the remote is the only way to toggle the RF inputs between cable and antenna.

Actually, with a lengthy second go, I figured something out. In the Fix Channel menu it allows you to set the fixed channel to a few of the antenna chanels and a few of the cable chanels. You can set it to A2 or C2. That gives you access to each input in programming the TV to pick up all the available channels. It's a bit of a backdoor because you have to fix the channel, and then unfix the channel before you can move up or down, but it will work for now.
Thanks for the help though. Bit of weird problem I know.
The HD channels look nice, but not much nicer than the DVD resolution. DVD are 480p right? And most of the digital channels I get are 1080i or 720p. But it is nice to have them for free.

If the TV's screen mode is set to 1080i, you should see a real difference when viewing HD content compared to DVD.

Still a little bit of fuzz with the 1080i and 720p, not analog signal fuzz (I see how different a digital no signal looks) but if you are right up on the screen there is a little fuzz in the picture. Perhaps this is from the fact that the over the air signal is running throug a coax? In general though the picture is fantastic, veins in hands, grain on wood, and almost a 3-D quality. But for the most part the 480p with component cables off the DVD is stellar with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
