Just Bought a 30HF85

I've spent a good deal of time checking these forums and avs for info on this tv. I know there has been a great deal of problems, but my tv has actually been running great. I do have a slight white glow that you can tell on dark screens, but its not bad enough to bother me. I do wonder if this glow could increase and cover the whole tube. Any reports on that?

My other question is that I have a Motorola STB Dual Tuner. I hate the fact that I have to use two remotes to change the channel on my STB. The instruction manual didn't come with a listing of codes for the Motorola brand, so I'm kinda at a lost on where to find the specfic codes so I can just use the Toshiba remote.

Or maybe someone might have the codes for the Toshiba tv where I can program the remote that came with my Motorola box.

Tek - the codes supplied to me by Comcast for Toshiba TVs are 0154, 0156 and 0060. You will need to try them until you find one that works.

On your Motorola remote:-
- press TV
- press and hold Setup until the TV button blinks twice, then release Setup
- enter the first four digit code and the TV button should blink twice (if it only blinks with one long blink then the code was entered incorrectly and you have to start again)
- press TV and then Power to verify that the code works - if not try the next one.

The white glow may simply be that you have the brightness turned up too much. Having adjusted my set using the Digital Video Essentials disc, the black levels are very deep black with no glow evident.

I used the general instrument codes for my panasonic you might try that.

Try to find a .PDF file of your set's manual online. It should contain all of the codes you need near the bottom.
