Looking for your opinion on whether or not anyone who owns a Sony KD30XS955,do you think this cabinet would support the weight of the t.v. The measurements all match up, just not sure about the weight of the beast. Any ideas on how to add more support to something like this?
Thanks in advance.

I just bought a kd-30xs955 last week and you are right when you call it a beast. The specs say it weighs 150lbs, and I believe them!

I put it on a not-so-nice pressboard entertainment center with one pressboard support in the center and metal pegs inserting into the sides on the two ends. I would guess the pressboard base is 1/2" to 3/4" thick and the metal pegs are ~3/8" in diameter.

My wife and I (total of ~300 lbs) sat on it at the same time and it did not creak or warp, so I figured it was ok for us. too bad you can't give your unit the same test. ;)

It's hard to see from the picture how thick the main support board really is or exactly how it is supported. Seems unlikely that a big cabinet like that would be designed for large TV's and not be able to support them. If you made me GUESS, I would guess that it would work, but the TV is very heavy. I don't know how it compares to other new tube TV's. My old 4:3 27" was probably only 60-80lbs, though.

could add extra support by drilling a few holes for pegs underneath the main support board.

Just my opinions; take them at your own risk! :D

good luck, and btw the xs955 picture is great; we're really enjoying the olympics in HD!
