I'm a person who just got the hd tv

it says hd-built in, so it doesn't need the set-top box.

we are using dish network, but have the regular receiver [not hd]

i went to dishnetwork.com and looked for the receiver and

811 is about 400 bucks.

we are wondering if there's anyway to watch the hd channels without buying the 811 receiver , but have the hd tv with hd-built in.

and we don't know how to get hd screens for the local channels.

do we need something special to get hd for the local channels?

if somebody can explain this stuff to me, it will be a lot of help

thanx

You need an Over The Air (OTA) HD Antenna to pick up your local channels in HD. Go to www.antenna.org to dind out how far you are from your local stations. It will help you get started in choosing an HD antenna to plug directly into your tv. I bought the Zenith Silver Series fror 40 bucks and only live about 20 miles from my local stations. It works great. You will need a set top box (811 Receiver) if you want to pick up non-local HD stations through Dish such as ESPNHD, etc.
