:confused: I Enabled(Activated) my caller ID function on my 211..I have the telephone cord connected to the back of the 211..and I went to the menu section on the 211 remote and activated the caller ID ...we subscribe to caller ID through our telephone service.
My question to you is..........when someone calls me on the phone ..will I see something on my tv screen that says who's calling?
Or do I have to always look up on the menu of the 211 to see who called?

Hi Rick:
You will see the name of who is calling (when available) and the number (when available) on your screen for about 20 seconds. You can also press select on your remote before the 20 seconds are up to make this screen go away.
It is a small window near the top of the screen and I rarely bother with turning it off.
There is also a way to get to the ID history in list form and note that I find the list clears itself whenever the receiver is turned off.

Can I ask you something else. I have two 211's at home..one has the telephone wire connected to the back of it-the other 211 does not.
What I'm wondering is....I'm aware that the 211's "communicate with each other(talk to each other) with updates ..what I'm wondering is..if one 211 in my home does not have the telephone wire connected on the back of it ..but my other 211 at my home does..will caller ID still show up on both 211's?
I activated caller ID function on both 211's.

You have to go in the menu and find the word activate or accessries
-I think...then find the word caller ID..and press Enable and then press Done.

I too heard about the communication thing and I looked all through the manual on this. The manual says all receivers need to be connected to a phone line.
Bottom line here I am not sure.
