Looking at Dish as an HD option

unforgiven

I've been with DirecTV since 1993 and know nothing about Dish. I've heard they have a pretty descent HD lineup and I'm curious. Right now I have two Receivers (both DirectTivos) and I subscribe to the Total Choice plus locals, HBO and Starz/encore. To compare apples to apples, what would be the equivalent (or very close) package on Dish?

Also, when I get my HD tv, what equipement would I need to in order to have and HD DVR in my livingroom and just a DVR for my bedroom. I want to make sure I can get locals later when offered in my area.

Thanks.

Take a look at this link (http://www./showthread.php?t=53794&highlight=retailer+facts+blast) for info about the programming packages. Might be useful. I'd guess that you'd be looking at the DishHD Silver or Gold w/locals and some combination of premium channels, a la carte.

The new HD/DVR is the ViP622 receiver (MPEG4 capable)... but word on the street is that it'll be March or April until it's available. Older SD DVR's would include the 625, 522... and possibly a few other models that are still available.
