Sorry for the dumb question, Im new at this. I got Dish installed about 3 months ago while I was at work. The dish is on the roof of my 6 story condo building so i cant actually see it. Is there any way to tell if it is a Dish 1000? I want to be ready for the Local HD rollout.

Thanks

Try going to the 'Check Switch' screen. If it shows 129 as one of the locations, then you have a dish 1000.

Swerd,

Where are you located and what programming package(s) do you currently have?

I'll try the check switch when i get home..

I am located in Chicago. I have The Top 120 with Locals, HBO and CM, plus the HD pack with Voom.

You're set for the upgrade, just need a new MPEG4 STB.

Swerd: You should have 129, but I'd still check as the Chicago HD locals will be on 129 and turned on very soon.

garys, he already said he receives his SD locals (which are currently on 129 (http://ekb./129list.htm)). The Check Switch will only confirm this.

I always think it's better to check and be positive, as most CSR will ask him to check if he is not 100% sure. I have seen posts where people asumed what they had and found out it wasn't what they thought. Also, I didn't check where his SD locals were located, as I am in the NY dma and my sd locals are on 119 and 61.5, however when the NY HD locals go up, they will be on 61.5. I thought he would be more concerned with where his HD is coming from as opposed to what he already has. I didn't want to get into a long drawn-out explaination.

You're right garys, best to doublecheck. I was just trying to say that by figuring out what channels the OP could currently view, we could determine what sats he has and go from there.

I use 61.5 on the east coast too... I haven't seen Universal HD uplinked yet. I was kinda looking foward to Galactica in HD...

I have seen so many local markets on more than one sat location, it's mind boggleing. NY is on 119 and 61.5, Phily is on 110 and 61.5 (and used to be another sat altogether.) And too many others to mention. Add to it Dish wants to put locals onto what the term "a one dish solution" (meaning some channels from NY, Phily and others will be moved in the near future.) Plus DN has been moving channels to different sats and tps. Swerd didn't seem to know too much about the workings of the sats, so tried to be simple as not to confuse him more and still answer his question.

I did this and it shows Sat 119, 110, 129. So I should be good right?

Yes, you should.
