Upgrade Rebates

Some of us are supposed to be getting rebates for trading in old receivers for the new MPEG-4 receivers. Mostly, the ViP 211.
They send you a ViP 211 in a box with packaging material configured to be adjusted to whatever you are sending back to them with a pre-paid UPS packing slip. Then they credit to your account the rebate amount after they receive your old receiver.
Has anyone seen this rebate yet?
$25 rebate has not hit here yet that I can tell..

The name of this promotion is called "Dishin It Up". If you are interested in upgrading to a new ViP 211 for a net cost of $25, here is the deal.

You order a ViP 211 receiver to lease from Dish for an initial cost of $50. Dish then sends you your new receiver in a box that can easily be used again. The packing materials that were used for your new receiver can be reconfigured to send any receiver back to them.

You may then send back any receiver that has been activated for the last 6 months that you actually own. Any receiver. HD or SD. CSR said it doesn't matter if it even works or not. (Why would anyone keep a broken receiver active is beyond me.. LOL).

In my case, I sent back an old Dish 2700 that worked except that the face plate falls off if not held on with some tape. CSR said this is fine and does not matter.

The new receiver even comes with a pre-paid UPS packing slip so there is absolutely no shipping cost to the customer. You do get a reference code and keep that little part of the label.

Upon Dish receiving your old receiver, you get a $25 credit so your net cost using this promotion is $25 for the upgrade to the ViP 211.

CSR also told me that they take your old receiver to have it refurbished and then they send it out to the needy. Many are going to victims of Hurricane Katrina, for example.

Still, I shipped back the 2700 over 2 weeks ago now and I see no $25 credit to my account yet. I have kept checking that online.

I guess I will ask them the question when I call to have the new MPEG-4 channels turned on tonight at midnight.

I will update this news after I get my rebate.

My account was just credited today. My net cost for the ViP 211 is now $25. See details to the Dishin' It Up Promotion below.
