I am new to dish network and I am getting ready to purchase a HDTV. How do I go about getting my channels? I am buying a TV with a HD tuner already built in. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Welcome.
1. If you are in an area were you will not be able to get HD over the air then I say: Save money.. Do not get the integrated tuner HD set. Get a HD ready set and your DISH HD tuner will you get what you want if you are in one of their planned new HD locals markets. If you can get HD over the air then do get the set with the HD tuner built in. Be sure about this first.
2. Did you get a DISH HD tuner when you started with DISH? If you did, you are all set. If not, I am not sure what the deal is as current receivers needed to be activated for the last 6 months. That is what I was told. Call CS and see what the story is and let us know on that. If you get someone who speaks with an accent, just hang up and try again. I say this to save yourself a headache.. lol.. Only the good old American CSR's will get you going the best way. Man can I tell you stories.. lol
Also, you want a DISH ViP 211 unless you want a DVR. The good deals on the new DVR's won't start until Apr 1.

Most HD displays these days do come with tuners. You can still see some that are only 'HDready', but not as many as there used to be.
I don't believe in being a slave to any provider. I say, always have a tuner. You might move, you might switch providers, etc. etc.
Why not be ready for any anything?
The added cost for an integrated tuner is not that great. And of the more popular microdisplays, you can't opt out, as the tuner is typically standard equipment.
