Panasonic S97S Progressive/Upconversion ?????

I have the S97 connected via component to a Samsung LNR 409 LCD which is sending a 480P signal to the 409, does the LNR 409 upconvert that signal to it's native resolution of 720P automatically? The Samsung has only one HDMI and that will be used for HD Receiver. The reason I mention that is because the S97 will do 720P/1080I via HDMI only. I'm new at this so please bear with. Thanks in advance for your input. We watched Finding Nemo via component connection (480P) and the picture was incredible.

Your TV will convert the 480p signal to display at its native resolution of 720p. The debate about up-converting DVD players seems to centre around two criteria:-
1. Which will do a better job of up-converting, the player or the TV.
2. With a fixed pixel display keeping the signal all-digital by using an HDMI is thought best but this could be used to transfer a 480p or 720p signal so it ties in with item 1 above.

My advice - if you liked the look of 480p with component cables stick to it!

^^ What he said. Your TV is doing exactly what these upconverting players are doing. I think upconverting players are a Waste-O-Money.
I'm Canadian so everything here is so much more $$. I'm putting that $$ towards a REAL HD-DVD player, not a fake one.
