Got a call from Directv wednesday.
The young lady says (I see that you have 3 receivers , but only 2 of them are HD dvr's. Being as you are such a good, long time customer we would like to upgrade the other receiver. When would be a good time for us to send an installer to your house to do this? Needles to say I was kind of shocked by the call.
Anyway I kind of laughed and started asking questions. The first thing I asked was how much is the going to cost? She said , nothing at all it's free. And your bill will not go up.
Then I asked why I had to have someone install it. I'm quite capable of doing it myself. And she said it had something to do with a telephone line to it. And I told her I didn't have telephone hooked up to any of my receiver's because I don't watch ppv movies.
My final question was, what is the catch, are you going to extend my contract for another 2 yrs? And her reply was that that didn't seem like and issue under the circumstances. So I said. I guess not being as I've been with directv for 11 or 12 yrs already and had no plans to leave.
Anyway what it all boils down to is I don't really need the new receiver, It's just for a 15" tv in the kitchen, but I'm not going to turn it down. So I'll probably just swap it out with one of the other dvr's in the bedroom or living room. Don't want to pass up something for nothing.
