Is My Sammy Lamp Dying?

I have a Samsung DLP 1080P rear projection television that I purchased in 2005. (Model# HL-S5087W)

Itís began giving out a very dark picture, and while the ďlampĒ indicator isnít blinking, it sure looks like a bulb issue to me.

Questions:

1) With a set of this age, are bulb replacements a viable or even worthwhile option?
2) How do I determine that it's a bulb issue.
3) How can I confirm lamp hours on this unit?
4) What do they generally run and where do you find them?

I would entertain a new bulb if availability was good, and was cheap. Otherwise I would probably look at a new set.

This (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HLS5087W-Watt-Lamp-Replacement/dp/B005GM71BI) is what I found on amazon. not sure if this is what I need.

Thanks!
