47" LG 47LV4400 LCD/LED TV wont turn on!

Hey there, a few weeks ago I created a topic regarding if the TV we had would be good etc.... Ended up getting the 47LV4400.
So far had worked great until yesterday,

Last night and this morning the TV refuses to come on. The "standby" light remains solid red at all times as long as the TV is plugged in, I can hit the power key on the remote, or on the TV side and nothing happens.

What could be wrong? This TV was working just fine before yesterday! no big changes have been made either, its been sitting in the same place since we bought it and placed it there 3 weeks ago!

Did you try unplugging it for a half hour anf then plugging it back in?

Yes, soon after we found out it wouldn't turn on last night it was left unplugged all night, plugged it back in this morning at 7am and still only the solid red standby light on. Nothing would respond.

James, we are also having the same problem. I have unplugged it for the last 45 minutes.

Did you figure out another solution?

I'm having EXACTLY the same issue. I turned off the TV last night and now it will not turn on from Standby. I've changed batteries in the remote and nothing. Also, using the power button on the side panel and no change. I've reviewed LG's website and have found nothing to help with sorting this as well.

Hey everyone, this isn't going to be a fun way of telling you what the fix is, but the two circuit borads that are connecting in the back ended up being fried. Yeah, a new model that had only been used for less than 2 months, fried.

We had to call LG and they had a service call out for the next day which was great, but then we found out the dreaded news.

It wasn't that it sucked to have to wait for the repairman, but we also found out that one of the two circuit boards were on backorder...

We are now (starting since I posted this thread) JUST about to get the circuit board popped in later today and finally watch TV again.

Sorry guys, but call LG!

Pricing on this set is so attractive -- Kmart has it for $650 + sales tax -- very cheap for an LED edge-lit TV -- but I have read so many reviews citing this same problem of the screen going black within 15-45 days of purchase that I think I am afraid to buy one. Does anyone know whether there is a problem with the components of this particular model, or is it more widespread at LG? I'm thinking about buying a Vizio instead.

I think I'm going to box mine up and take back to Sam's and exchange it. I bought mine Dec. 1 and left for work overseas and just got back last week and now this is happening to a brand new TV with barely 10 days of use. This is very not cool....

Hi All,

Bought this TV in Jan, 2012 from Kmart due to their lowest price..... and now all of a sudden it stopped working with the same problem as mentioned above. Fixed RED light. Called up LG and they have set an appointment with one of the Authorized service centers technician. But, when I called up the service center they said they would be ordering for some parts from LG and once they get that part only then they would send their technician to fix the problem, and it would take atleast 2-3 weeks for the entire process. Its a very common problem (not sure if its particular only to this model) and the lady who answered the call just asked for the exact problem I am facing with the TV and they have ordered for the part saying we know the exact issue.

I cannot replace or return this TV to Kmart since I have already crossed the 30 day bracket.....any idea/suggestion on how to get this replaced from LG. One of the member mentioned that LG have agreed to replace this.....

My tv purchased in Dec 2011 - today for the third time red stand-by on push power button on remote light goes out - TV dead. Unplug TV / Plug TV back in / turns on as if nothing happened
Anyone else have this as a precurser to the other problems I see here?

Just a suggestion on the TV problems.. First of all unplug the TV from the wall. As soon as you unplug source hold down the power button on the side of the TV for 1 minute without releasing till the one minute is over. After that plug TV power source back into wall the try turning on TV.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem. Call LG at 1800-243-0000 and the tech will come and change the one of the boards. Even you bought a year ago, you should call them. It won't hurt. The tech said it is usually not working within 3-4 months. Good luck. Shine

I bought inNov/2011 and used less than 100hrs and suddenly died. Its red standby light on but cannot power on by remote nor by manually. I called LG Consumer line 1-800-243-0000. They were very nice and provided a nearby repair place phone # for you to call and a tech to come by my place in 3 days. It took literally less than 15 mins to fix. The tech just replaced the main board. It is a popular problem and per the tech, one part in the main board quit functional within 3-4 months. I curiously asked about the price of the board which costs about $150-160 range. Since I bought in less than a year, I paid none. Even you bought it more than a year but less than two, it won't hurt to give them a call. Make sure you make a copy of the receipt for the tech.

For a while it looked like LG quality was improving. Guess it was temporary.

Looks like this is a common problem and not isolated to just LG. We purchased a 47" LG & a 40" JVC for Christmas 2011. The JVC had the the main power board fail within 5 months. The LG just had the same failure and we expect the same diagnosis.

I highly recommend buying from Costco as you need to keep your receipt in order for them to honor the warranty. Costco was able to reprint our receipt and send it in directly to the warranty center. Another big bonus is that Costco automatically extends the warranty by one year, giving us a 2 yr warranty.

Based on this, all of my future TV purchases will be through Costco.

I got a LG 55LV4400 LED TV back Dec 26, 2011. Did not watch too much, less than 100 hours. But yesterday, just under 2 years, it died. Red light on, but wont power on.
Searched and found this one, may be this is the problem. dont know if i can repair it by myself.
Search youtube with the following words, you will find the video:
LG 55LV4400 LED TV Repair

Or search ZuYyWdfTC_E in youtube.

Sorry can not post link here.

This guy is an electronic engineer. very clear instructions, but need some tools and skills.
just want to share with you. good luck.
