Should download automatically through Steam. The file size is slightly larger than the patch that intentionally leaked last week (the one I PM'd you 2+2) and it seems to be an improvement from it. I'm assuming the leaked patch was a work build, and they added just a little more polish.
patch notes (by kamspy)
-DX11 now works reasonably well on Nvidia hardware
-New, Extreme Detail level in GFX options.
Basically, it did this.
1920x1080
2xMSAA
DX11
Normal Tess
Extreme Setting* (new option under "Detail" option, defaults to Tess high DX11, don't know if it adds to textures or not)
Normal physX, etc.
BEFORE (based on memory)
LOW: 1
Average: 32
High: 60
In reality, unplayable because of hard stutters whenever you do a 180 turn (or even anything higher than 90 really, anything that draws an entirely new field of view would make the game pause)
NOW
Low: 32
Average: 48
High: 60
Sweet. Thinking of capping the game at 30fps until they get it right though. BF3 runs better than this. Disabling PhsyX does nothing for my performance. It seems the Nvidia beta driver basically made the Normal PhsyX "free" on the 580. The high doesn't do much worse, but it drops the average specifically in phsyx intensive parts. All it adds is more particles. No completely new effects like Asylum High vs Normal. Fore some reason, there is a ton of stuttering the first 10 seconds of gameplay when you boot it up. Not when loading new areas or rooms. Just the first time it boots. Dunno why. No biggie though.
