Hi im going to buy the pioneer PDP505HD plasma tv
http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/home_entertainment/plasmadisplaypanel/pdp505hd/index.html
And i want to plug my pc into it on the site they say the plasma has these connections VGA/SVGA/XGA/Wide XGA i think the Wide XGA sounds like the best option but im not sure if i have the right graphics card my graphics card in my pc is gforce fx and uses the standerd svga that all monitors use will i have to buy another graphics card that has the Wide XGA output or does Wide XGA use the same lead as the normal vga has anyone with had any experience with the WideXGA format.

Wide XGA is 1280 horizontal res. VGA carries it fine, it's just another graphics format. Make sure your refresh is locked at 60 Hz, other rates can do damage.

Hardware res of this panel is 1280 x 768 - optimal res requires a custom format to get 1:1 pixel mapping. But 1280 x 720 (ATSC standard) will autoscale to full screen & look pretty good.

You'll need to do a little research on the overscan / underscan issue.

Thanks RSawdey for the information, when you say requires a custom format to get 1:1 do you mean for me to do a fresh install of windows or do you mean something els,yeh i better go do a search on the overscan part to i seen a section on this site about that the other day.
