Limit to how large a TS file can be?

Hey,
I read a thread about people watching 16gb files and such...However, when I try to use DVD2MPEG to join a large amount of files, it seems to reach some limit (around 4gb) and ends up with errors. I also tried just using command line copying, it said it ran out of space?? That is not an issue I don't think. (180gb hard drive). I wouldn't mind the smaller files so much except I can't find a software player which lets me load them all in, and then switches seamlessly.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Standard file system support is limited to 4 GB... but there seems to be a 'hack' used by a couple of HD-PVR tuners... most players have a method for playing a series of files seamlessly, so several 4 GB files aren't a problem.
