Any difference in quality between......

I just purchased a Up convert DVD for my Vizio 50" plasma. I was wondering if playing a dvd on this in 1080i would have the same quality as playing a file I d/l from a newsgroup that is a 1080i ts file and I play on the computer with Elecard's mpeg player? Would one be better than the other?

Yes, the newsgroup file was captured (hopefully) at 1080i, the DVD is upconverting, there is a difference.
